Applied Meaning

In traditional decks back in the day, the Queen of Swords received a bad rap and was considered an embittered lady of misfortune: unmarried, childless, divorced, or widowed in an age when it was considered a most unfortunate state of affairs for a woman’s status and circumstances. Thankfully, views have changed in modern times!

The Queen of Swords is an independent woman who knows her own mind, regardless of relationship status. She is observant and perceptive with a sharp and agile mind that doesn’t tend to miss anything because she is naturally analytical and a critical thinker. She soon discerns if things don’t stack up and has a good memory and recall. She is usually efficient, articulate, and thrives on information, making her a good conversationalist, albeit one who soon tires of small talk.

Your Queen of Swords friend has an innate sense of justice and is solution-oriented. If you share your problem, her natural instinct is to logically conclude how it can be solved and what you need to do to overcome it. You might be disappointed if you were just looking for tea and sympathy. She can seem cool and distant at times or almost detached, but she is careful where she places her trust and tends to have a small circle of close and trusted friends.

They make loyal friends and partners who will defend you to the end if they believe you are in the right. The Queen of Swords won’t go looking for trouble, but you may be surprised at her strength of character and steely inner determination if you bring it to her door; she is not someone to cross swords with. Being rather dutiful, she may need to be reminded to lighten up and have fun at times.

For email readings, the Queen of Swords can be used to represent a woman with an astrological air sign: Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius.

In career matters, they do well in any areas where they can use their astute mind to its best ability for problem-solving or in fields involving truth and justice, such as: analysis, research, all types of investigative work, logistics, science, IT, legal or law enforcement, military, adjudication, human rights, senior managers/executives.

In readings and in connection with similar cards, they can often represent a female lawyer, due to the various circumstances that involve legal dealings, (divorce, inheritance, property transactions, litigation, etc.,) as shown in the following. In particular, watch for this card connected or surrounded with Justice and the Ace of Pentacles, which can represent legal and official documents, contracts, agreements, etc.

Reversed or Badly Aspected

Being mentally two steps ahead can make them impatient and intolerant with others. They can be sharp-tongued if crossed and emotionally distant if you offend them.

Associations

Supporting or opposing cards don’t apply to Kings and Queens as they’re neutral and represent people of four distinct personality types.
